Oftentimes a patient will express worry about feeling pain, and we understand that no one likes discomfort. The truth is, a root canal is needed because an infection is already raging inside the tooth, it is the infection that is causing pain. We expose the infected material and then rid it from the inside of the tooth, relieving the pain. We want to help you remove pain, not give it. Root canal therapy is a necessary treatment to save a tooth that has been infected, and it may even save neighboring teeth from becoming infected. Inlays and OnlaysInlays and onlays are a customized porcelain piece that we use to correct damaged portions of enamel. They are sometimes called a partial crown, or a ¾ crown. Dental inlays are used to fit inside of large cavities. Dental onlays are used to fit on the outer wall of the teeth. Dental inlays and onlays can greatly extend the life of a natural tooth and restore its shape and function. We recommend this step in making repairs, especially for patients who are seeking a more holistic, minimal impact approach. Dental CrownA dental crown is a full tooth-shaped cap that we use to cover a damaged, misshaped or weakened tooth. Dental crowns provide an added layer of strength and structure to a tooth greatly extending its lifespan. Crowns can be used for both restorative and cosmetic purposes. The visible portion of the crown is customized to match your natural tooth in bite, size and shape at its perfected state. Additionally, we use dental crowns in combination with other restorations including a dental bridge to anchor a false tooth, and in tandem with a dental implant to restore a missing tooth. 
Dental BridgeWe can restore missing teeth using a dental bridge. A bridge consists of two dental crowns on each end with false teeth between. The dental crowns are fitted over healthy natural teeth, or dental implants, in order to anchor the device permanently in place. A dental bridge is a great way to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. Bridges can be used to restore a single tooth, or multiple teeth, it will just depend on the placement of the missing teeth. We can evaluate and discuss options during your consultation. Same Day Dental CrownAn exciting step in restoration is the option for same-day dental crowns. Using sophisticated software and an in-house milling machine, we are able to have a customized dental crown fabricated in our office during your appointment. Same day dental crowns means less office visits, less time waiting, and instant results. The process is incredible and hugely beneficial to our patients. Hybrid DenturesA hybrid denture can sometimes be referred to as a full arch bridge, or All on 4. It is the permanent attachment of your denture to the gum ridge using multiple dental implants, generally four - but can be up to six. This option is the closest denture restoration to your own natural teeth in feel and function following the loss of your teeth. Bone GraftWe may recommend a bone graft procedure to increase the bulk of your bone following the loss of teeth. Bone graft procedures are often completed prior to the surgical placement of dental implants. When teeth are lost, or our mouths have been impacted from chronic periodontitis, bone loss can occur. Our bones can regenerate and grow under the right conditions. We stimulate new bone growth through a graft. The process is completed in our office with a local anesthetic. We numb the tissue, open the tissue to reveal the bone and place tiny bone fragments. The area is then sutured closed. The bone fragments can be synthetic, donated or from the patient. Dental ImplantsWe use dental implants to restore missing teeth and to benefit your bone following the loss of teeth. A dental implant is not a false tooth, rather it is a new tooth root, reestablishing the connection between the jaw and a false tooth. It is the connecting piece. Dental implants have greatly elevated dental care, they allow us to much more closely mimic a natural tooth in how they work with the jaw. Dental implants are better for your oral health and your bone health following the loss of teeth. Dental EmergenciesIf a dental emergency occurs, contact our office, we have tools in place to offer assistance at any time, day or night. It's helpful to have some emergency protocols in place for certain issues: did a tooth get knocked out? Is a tooth broken or fractured? Are you experiencing pain? There are temporary solutions, and steps you can take during all of these situations until you can be seen. Know what shouldn't be ignored, such as symptoms of infection, or unusual bleeding. These matters should be medically treated as soon as possible. Infection Control PrecautionsInfections should not be ignored or dismissed. The symptoms of infection are a warning system in your body that something is amiss and it needs to be resolved. Dental infections can be just as problematic as an infection anywhere else in your body. Toothaches, cysts, irritated gums, and bleeding are all symptoms of an issue. Seek dental care, don't assume the issue will resolve itself, it generally doesn't. After Treatment Home CareFollowing treatment, or a surgical procedure, we will provide you with care instructions specific to the work that has been completed. We ask that you follow all instructions for best results. We also ask that you diligently be aware of any unusual symptoms, such as indications of infection or excessive bleeding.
